In China, the snake is often considered to be the prototype of the “dragon” totem. Interestingly, there are hundreds of snake-bodied deities and beasts with human faces depicted in ancient Chinese book The Classic of Mountains and Seas. And snakes can be found in myths, ancient texts, folklore, and various cultural heritages. In the creation of the Spiritual Snake Tarot, we have incorporated the snake-bodied gods that are widely known in China. The Minor Arcana also tells four folk tales and mythological stories related to snakes, which reflect reverence for the life and a belief in passing down the culture.
